Neelum Jhelum Hydel Power Station Halts Generation for Tunnel Inspection During Low-Flow Season

Neelum Jhelum Hydel Power Station will stop electricity generation during the current low-flow season from January 10 to inspect its 3.5-kilometre-long tailrace tunnel. The low water flows in the rivers during the low-flow season is considered ideal for inspection of hydel power stations, therefore, inspection of many hydel power stations is carried out during this period.

On average, Neelum Jhelum Hydel Power Station will generate 90 megawatts (MW) of electricity during January. The closure of Neelum Jhelum Hydel Power Station due to the inspection of the tailrace tunnel will impact only 90 MW hydel share to the National Grid.
